The 2 day Intro to Beekeeping Course has some requirements.
Because there will be a hands on hives section you must have a hat and veil. If you do not you can buy one from the PBC Beekeepers Assoc for $25.00. However we must have payment by February 1st.
We will be selling Nuc box hives for those in the Intro to Beekeeping Course. Those can only be purchased at the end of the event and checks will be made out to the supplier. Nuc hives will be $75.00.

Annual Pollinator Day is coming up at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. It is on June 27th. The event runs from 10am till 2pm. There will be :

A Discussion with Dr. Mark Stein on Bee Venom (Apitoxin)

The Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association is proud to have Dr. Mark Stein come to discuss bee venom and allergic reactions to bee venom. Dr. Mark Stein will discuss the difference between localized and systemic reactions. The performance of antibodies in relation to bee venom. Dr. Mark Stein will also be discussing treatment issues and desensitization to bee venom. This discussion is not just for beekeepers but also for anyone who feels they may be allergic to bees or just curious about bee venom and the effects it can have.
Bee venom (Apitoxin) contains a mix of proteins and components that can affect blood pressure, capillary dilation, pulse rates, adrenal gland production, and in case of approximately 1% of the population reactions can be severe.
Dr. Mark Stein is a board certified Allergist and Immunologist with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Mark Stein is Chief of the Section on Allergy at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is also affiliated with the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Mark Stein has 3 offices in Palm Beach County and 1 in Martin County.

Bud Grant is the apiary inspector for south Florida. He come with a loads of knowledge to help you with your beekeeping. He will be speaking on queens and purchasing of them.
